Pre-School

Our Pre-School Program

At West Area we are proud to offer our daytime adult students a free pre-school program on our main campus for their children ages 3 through 5. With the help of grant money and other community agencies, we are able to provide a wonderful family literacy program consisting of four essential components.

A true Family Literacy Program consists of four components:

1. Adult Education

Improve reading, writing and math skills; improve English language skills; and develop and apply basic workplace skills.

2. Child Education

Increase cognitive abilities, especially language and literacy; improve use of English language; increase social competence and self-control; and develop/improve fine and gross motor skills. We follow core curriculum guidelines. Our program fulfills Florida Sunshine State Standards.

3. Parent Resource Classes

Increase knowledge of children’s development, abilities, strengths and needs; and increase knowledge and application of their roles as teachers of their children.  Enables parents with resources to improve the quality of family life.

4. Parent and Child Together Time (PACT)

Apply knowledge of children’s development and behavior management techniques; communicate and display positive attitudes towards children; and use routine interactions with children to encourage learning and language development.
